Peter Salt

Peter is a former director of Hamilton James & Bruce.  With responsibility for the development of the Financial Institutions, Marketing, PR & Communications teams, he also actively managed senior search and selection mandates and was instrumental in the brand development work that made HJ&B one of the most prominent recruitment firms in the industry.

Coming out of recession in 1991, and with his background in investor relations, Peter saw the opportunity to create a specialised PR & Communications practice within HJ&B.  10 years later, with teams in Sydney and Melbourne, HJ&B was known as the leading executive search and selection firm in this field.

Educated in England and Europe, Peter began his career in Brussels, Belgium.  Working for a European investor relations consultancy, he gained valuable first-hand experience and insight into this developing field before migrating to Australia in 1987.

Peter entered the field of executive search and selection in 1988, accepting a position with Cambridge Consulting Services who specialised in banking and finance appointments before joining Hamilton James & Bruce in 1990. 

Today, Peter is recognised as one of the leading executive search and selection consultants specialising in the field of strategic corporate and public affairs in Australia and serves on the board of the Australian chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). 

It is his passion for communication that has led him to establish Salt & Shein, which has as its sole purpose, the search and selection of executives in the field of corporate and public affairs, media and communication.

Josh Shein

Prior to establishing Salt & Shein in July 2004, Josh spent four years consulting with the ASX-listed Hamilton James & Bruce. During that time he specialised in mid-to-senior level executive recruitment in the fields of corporate affairs and communication, working with clients in corporates, government, not-for-profits, peak bodies and public relations consultancies.

 

Born and educated in Sydney , Josh started his career in media research and information, handling business development and account management. This role brought him into close contact with individuals and organisations working in the field of communication, many of whom remain his clients today.

 

Josh commenced recruiting in 1999 with a Sydney-based boutique consultancy, choosing to specialise in communication recruitment from the outset.

His success in establishing his practice led to an approach from Hamilton James & Bruce in 2000, which in turn led to the development of a team-based practice in conjunction with Peter Salt , now his business partner.

After six years in the marketplace, Josh is known as a leader in Australian corporate affairs and communication recruitment. He established Salt & Shein in order to continue to provide the best practitioners to his clients while ensuring a more personalised and focused service offering.

Lucy Newcomb

Lucy brings to Salt & Shein 10 years executive recruitment experience, specifically in the area of corporate communications and marketing. She has established a large and diverse portfolio of clients across the corporate and government sectors. Lucy partners with her clients and candidates to provide expert advice and a consultative approach to the recruitment process.

Born in New Zealand, Lucy completed her degree in Marketing and Legal Studies and joined Phillips Consumer Electronics. She spent three years with the business in a range of marketing communication roles. She moved to Australia in 1997 and commenced her career in recruitment with Morgan & Banks and has over time established herself as a highly regarded consultant, directly specialising in the fields of corporate affairs and marketing communication.

Lucy is proud to combine her career and young family. Salt & Shein provide a flexible working environment that gives her the support and freedom for a balanced lifestyle.

Deb Wilson

Deb brings over fourteen years experience to Salt & Shein in marketing and corporate communication.  Most recently, Deb held the position of Senior Consultant - Stakeholder Communication with a national executive search organisation.

Deb has quickly established an excellent reputation as a recruitment consultant working across the entire communication spectrum while developing an impressive portfolio of corporate, government and peak body clients.

Deb holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in marketing and legal studies from the University of NSW and holds a certificate in Public Relations.

Having worked both in-house and agency side, Deb is also well placed to provide strategic career development advice and recommend training programs for skills development.
